"Why it is here: An optional soy-isoflavone adjunct for postmenopausal women who choose one with their clinician. How to take: 1 capsule once daily with food. The label directs 2 capsules twice daily; this protocol uses one-quarter of that amount. Published evidence: A 2024 review of 63 trials in postmenopausal women found bone-density benefit with at least 50 mg/day of genistein for at least 12 months; it reported no fracture outcomes. Fracture prevention has not been established. Clinical experience (observation): I advise 1 capsule a day, well below the label’s suggested use, for postmenopausal women who choose a soy-isoflavone adjunct with their clinician. Caution: Each capsule supplies 125 mg of genistein; contains soy. A history of estrogen-sensitive breast cancer, or use of tamoxifen or an aromatase inhibitor, requires an oncology review first. Discuss thyroid medicine such as levothyroxine, other prescription medicines, pregnancy, and breastfeeding with your clinician or pharmacist. Review: Tolerance, cost, and continued need; your clinician should set bone-density monitoring."

"Why it is here: To help meet calcium, magnesium, and vitamin D needs when their amounts fit your food intake. Begin one product from this protocol at a time, not several. How to take: 2 capsules with food, twice daily (4 capsules a day), as the label directs. Published evidence: Calcium absorption from supplements is highest at doses of 500 mg or less; each 2-capsule dose supplies 400 mg. Clinical experience (observation): I use this combination when its calcium, magnesium, and vitamin D fit a person’s food intake. When they do not, I adjust the capsule count or choose separate nutrients. Caution: Four capsules supply 800 mg calcium, 200 mg magnesium, 200 IU vitamin D3, and 180 mg phosphorus. Count them with food and every other product. Do not add the Calcium protocol’s product unless your clinician directs it. Review kidney disease, kidney stones, high calcium, and medicine timing first. Review: Twice a year: calcium from all sources, magnesium tolerance, and continued need."

"Why it is here: Optional collagen peptides as one part of a protein-rich diet, not a main protein source. How to take: Take 1 scoop (10 g) once daily with food, mixed into 8 fl oz (240 mL) of liquid or another food or beverage. Published evidence: In a 12-month trial in 131 postmenopausal women, 5 g/day of specific collagen peptides improved bone density compared with placebo; fractures were not studied. This product is not established as equivalent to that preparation. Clinical experience (observation): 10 g a day as one part of a protein-rich diet, not as a main protein source. Caution: Bovine-derived. Made in a facility that processes milk, fish, and tree nuts. Collagen is not a complete protein; consult your healthcare practitioner before use if pregnant, lactating, on medication, or with any health condition. Review: Tolerance, cost, and protein from meals."
